Regents Review
The following study tools and review methods have been outlined for you to prepare for the Living Environment Regents, which will be taken on June 16th at 11:45.
- Last Barrons is posted and due Friday June 12
- Extra Help sessions will be given- check the agenda
- Review Quizzes will the given one a day- to identify areas of misconceptions
- Part B and C practice packet distrubuted in class will be completed for HW
- Additional extra help can be scheduled by appointment
- June 8 Lab Safety, Scientific Method, Life Processes and Biochemistry
- June 9 Cells, Cell transport, Photosynthesis, Cellular Respiration
- June 10 Reproduction--asexual and sexual, growth and development, flowering plants
- June 11 Mendelian & Modern Genetics, Mutation, Evolution
- June 12 4 States Labs
Regents Exam Set Up
Time: 3 hours (must stay a minimum of 2 hours)
Questions: 85
Part A: 30 multiple choice
Part B1: 13 multiple choice (pictures, diagrams, data tables, etc)
Part B2: 12 mixed questions (graph, multiple choice, short answer)
Part C: 17 mixed questions (constructed response, short answer, reading comprehension)
Part D: 13 mixed questions (multiple choice, short answer all about the 4 state labs)
In order to prepare for the Regents Exam, here are a couple of strategies:
1. Know your content! Reviewing your old notes is a good way to make sure you know the facts. Understanding the vocabulary is probably the most important factor.
2. See a wide variety of questions. Look over your old quizzes and tests, since they include old Regents questions. The likelihood of you seeing a repeated question increases when you review a large sampling of questions.
3. Take a practice Regents. You can find many practice Regents on the links below. The answer keys are included.
4. Practice subject specific questions. If you know your area of weakness, you can practice questions about that topic at www.regentsprep.org, www.sciencereviewgames.com, or www.reviewbiology.com
