Energy Pyramid-
The amount of energy that is in our biosphere originates from the sun, but will begin a trophic levels pyramid with the "producers" that pass energy from one organism to the next. Unfortunately, only 10% of the energy from the producers are passed to the next level of organisms. 90% of the energy is lost to heat in the atmosphere.

Symbiosis is a close and long-term interaction between two different biological species. Sometimes this interaction benefits both organisms, (mutualism)
sometimes this interaction benefits one organism but harms the other organism, (parasitism)
sometimes this interaction benefits one organism and does not effect the other organism (commensalism)

Biomass: is biological material derived from living, or recently living organisms.
Human Impact- humans have made some major impacts in our biosphere that have threats to biodiversity
- water pollution
- conservation and preservation
- pesticides & biological control
- algal blooms / eutrophication
- air pollution / global warming
- human population growth
- applying ecological principles (renewable fuel, do not use finite resources, sewage treatment, soil conservation)
- habitats lost, fragmentation... migration patterns bc of habitat disruption, invasive and exotic species, poaching, over hunting and over fishing)
- degradation (pollution) (acid rain, CFC, burning fossil fuels, fertilization run off, pesticides)
